Join Dr. Sky (Steve Kates), a leading authority on the skies, at the BEST meteor shower of the year, the Perseids. What makes it so special is that we get to experience the Perseids in the most beautiful place in AZ, at the foot of the Superstition Mountains, in the Lost Dutchman State Park.

The event starts with a free beer grotto and concession style snacks until 10:00pm. The meteor viewing goes all night. 12 premium tent camping sites have been set aside for event guests. Guest must purchase additional ticket ($15) to reserve a spot. See Event Activities and Rules below.

Event Activities

8:00 to 10:00pm - Free beer grotto for adult guests sponored by Lagunitas Brewing Company, snacks and treats. At 9:00 there will be a Dr. Sky Presention on Meteor Shower and Asteroids. Tickets are required for this portion of the event.
10:00pm - Live Radio on Coast To Coast with Dr. Sky.
10:30 to 11:00pm - Intermission (grab your lawn chair!)
11:00pm to Sunrise - Meteor Viewing and Tips on How to Photograph Meteors.

Admission Information & Rules

Adult admission includes park entrance, event admission, free beer grotto. Must present ticket at ranger station and at event entrance. ONE TICKET PER ADULT IS REQUIRED.
One minor accompanied by a ticketed adult is free, if more than one minor, must purchase an additional ticket.
12 prime tent spaces have been set aside for event guests. These spaces are right next to the event, premium parking for one vehicle is included. Four occupants per site. Guest must purchase the space from this web site, additional $15 required. First-come-first-serve on these sites, check-in is after 2:00 pm, check-out is noon. Must present ticket at ranger station.
Additional RV and tent camping sites can be reserved from the park's reservation site: www.azstateparks.com
No alcohol allowed inside the event perimeter (during event hours 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm). Must show proof of age for admittance to beer grotto.
Meteor viewing is open to the public (10:00 - Sunrise) with park entrance fee/camping fee paid at the ranger station.
Bring plenty of water, dress comfortably.
In case of severe weather that forces cancellation of the event all together, $10 per admission ticket price will be reimbursed. We cannot reimburse for camp sites (see park rules).
